The GoBlog was GetOutdoors’ blog from 2005 into the early 2010s: gear news, trip reports, the “Dumb Idea” column and plenty of opinions, written by climb_ca, eBomb, Runout, ThatWilsonGirl, Ochotona and the GetOutdoors desk. More than 2,400 posts in all.
The original site is gone, but we’re bringing the best of it back, rewritten and fact-checked for today, with a link to each original.
Followed an old link?
If you arrived from an old GoBlog link, the post you were after hasn’t been revived yet. You can still read the originals on the Internet Archive’s copy of the GoBlog, or start with the pieces we’ve already brought back.
Revived so far
- Ray Jardine Was Right. Ultralight Backpacking Missed the Point. Revisits “Ray Jardine Is the Man” and “Ultralight Is So 2006.”
- Dana Design: The Packs That Refuse to Die The pack-history thread that started with “Who Killed the External Frame Backpack?”
- How to Actually Read a Compass Old-school navigation, no phone required.
More archive revivals land every week, including the Svea 123 stove and the humble bandana. Browse everything new on the GetOutdoors home page.
