Twin Falls State Park

In the heart of Wyoming Country, Twin Falls State Park offers majestic mountain views, modern resort facilities and a glimpse into the pioneer days of the 19th century.

The physical and natural features of the area have had a major impact on how man has lived in these mountains. Located in the Allegheny Plateau, the mountains were formed by the erosion of the plateau, leaving all the mountain tops at about the same elevation. The highest point within the park is 2,409 feet and the lowest is 1,902 feet above sea level. The slopes are often very steep, and there are several promontories, two of which have been developed into scenic overlooks.

The area is drained by the Marsh Fork and the Black Fork of Cabin Creek on the west and by Still Run on the east, with Bowers Ridge in between. Both of these streams have cut mini gorges, although the Cabin Creek gorge is more easily seen.

Recommended Activities

  • Climb the steep slopes of the Allegheny Plateau to one of several promontories which have been developed into scenic overlooks.
  • Explore the small gorges and the two waterfalls, Foley Falls and Black Fork Falls which give the park its name.
