Fly Fish, Meet Babes

This just in, women like to fly fish. Which explains why Trout Underground spends so much time doing it. Fly fishing I mean. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again, fishing especially fly fishing has HUGE potential as the next hot singles pick up scene. Except for the cold water. And worms. And beating the fish senseless thing. Oh, and pulling those beautiful Marlin out of the water on huge hooks seems kind of barbaric. Except for those things fishing is fun. Did I mention the hot babes? From the AP in Rocky Mountain News:

There are new anglers reeling in fish these days: According to an Outdoor Industry Foundation study last year, there are nearly 3.5 million women who fly fish in the United States, up 200,000 since 2003.

That's welcome news to Robert Ramsay, president of the American Fly Fishers Trade Association.

"We all know that mothers control vacation destinations," Ramsay laughed. "If we can entice mothers to take their families fishing, that would be great.

"Fly fishing has this stigma of being a cigar-smoking, good-old-boys type club. It would be great to change that image."

I don't know about you, but those numbers seem suspect. But the cigar smoking, that's spot on. Guaranteed. Ten to one the guys at Trout Underground and Yellowstone Fly Fishing smoke about 5 Cubans a trip. I'm just saying.

I read stories like this - that 3.5 million women fly fish - and wonder why I'm stuck fishing with a bunch of foul-smelling, unpretty males. (Probably because I am one.)

But kudos to you guys for managing to work in a photo of a bikini-clad woman. I would just kill to do that on the Trout Underground.

We're stuck with naked fish and fully dressed politicians. . . . how do you do it?

Yellowstone, they don't need online lessons. Hell I invited that climb_ca guy up for an on-the-water lesson, and... crickets.

I suspect they're simmply using bikini-clad fly fishers to drive traffic as opposed to holding a deep and abiding love for the sport. Frankly, I have to applaud that kind of thinking...

..I also invited them to visit & fish in a land where there was more flyfishing "TRUTH" per square inch than anywhere in the known universe. Even promised them fish.
.. Maybe there's something in the cigars I've been puffing - seems I'll have to find them the daughter of a Volga river fisherman to get their attention.
.. Now you can applaud all of our thinking - sure beats politics and flyfishing.
