Can't say we didn't try, but in the end our $40,000 wasn't enough. Probably better, imagine what we would have done with Alpinist's assets anyway. Got rid of the magazine, book, and film festival and turned the website into a forum for discussing the latest in climbing fashion we thought. Because, after careful market research we really felt there was a hole in the market addressing the latest fashion trends from Patagonia, North Face, et. al.
In the end, the final bid was for $71,000. That's the bad news for the debt holders and/or investors given the millions that were pumped in. On the positive side, the new owners evidently plan to keep the magazine. At least that's what we were told since we only wanted the online assets anyway. So, we'll see. Anybody that plans to restart a magazine in this economy has cojones and we wish them all the luck. Let us know if you need help with the website. Because, you know, we've been so successful in this arena.
