"Honey, I'm just going to go out and get some ice cream!"
This story seemed a bit urban legendy, but we're gonna assumeThe Adventure Blog fact checked it. Better than trusting the NY Times, which wrote about this story last year. Granted the term "bike tour" might be a little generous, since one assumes a bike tour is somewhat continuous without weeks spent in one place, but lets not get all technical. It's a good story. Seems Heinz Stücke left his hometown of Hövelhof, Germany in 1962, at age 22, for a bike tour. While even the most hearty adventurer might have stopped after a couple of years, Heinz is still going 45 years later. Over that time, he's ridden his 3 speed over 335,000 miles across 211 countries and territories. Read his first person account or donate money to continue to fund his trip here.
