If this wasn't being reported in a few sources, we'd think it was a joke. Evidently Conrad Anker doesn't think there's enough of a circus on Everest and has decided to lead a team outfitted in climbing gear circa 1924, the year Mallory climbed Everest and disappeared. They will retrace his steps wearing specially adapted hobnail boots, knickerbockers, Burberry suits and fur-lined motorcycle helmets. All probably supplied by North Face as part of their new, "George Mallory Genteel Gear" line designed by Anker. Says Anker referring to his part in the discovery of Mallory's body eight years ago, "That moment has haunted me ever since." You know what haunts us? The thought of Anker in knickerbockers. Via
