
In an incredible bit of bad market timing, a new device called
Shark Shield has launched to protect surfers from shark attacks. The surfboard mounted device creates an electrical field that causes muscle spasms in sharks. But don't worry PETA, there is no long-term damage. We're thinking the surfer target market is a bit off, considering the
low number of attacks each year (probability of an attack = slim), $700 price tag, and innate surfer stinginess. Sell these things to the Navy though and they'll make a killing protecting our service folks from roving gangs of man eaters when our ships get sunk. Which isn't so often any more. But you neva, neva know. Nobody wants to end up like the survivors of the
U.S.S. Indianapolis, swarmed and eaten by sharks after their ship went down. Video after the jump.
