The mystique of Alaska is well-deserved, and Alaska's Arctic epitomizes this extraordinary land, with its unimaginable vastness, 24 hours of light, stunningly beautiful landscapes and wildlife most people have only dreamed of seeing.
"Timelessness is the key word," says co-owner Carol Kasza. "It begins with the light" until you've experienced an Arctic summer, you can't conceive of the abundance of time that 24 hours of daylight gives you. In this remote wilderness, we're free not only from the harried pace of city life, but free from the constraints of time itself. We are a family operation, guiding trips in the Brooks Range since 1979. Most of our trips are led by owners Carol Kasza or Jim Campbell. We're assisted by a small, select group of guides who have the same feeling for the land. Our 14- and 18- year-old children, Kyle and Kendra, assist us with office work, packing food and sorting gear, and share their unique perspective while out on trips with us.
Arctic Treks has been a leader in setting high standards for the wilderness guiding profession and working to protect Alaska's wild lands, with Carol serving as past president of the Alaska Wilderness Guides Association and founding board member and current vice president of the Alaska Wilderness Recreation and Tourism Association. Carol is also a former instructor for Colorado Outward Bound School and both she and Jim are trained in emergency medical care.Our trips are designed for those with a sense of adventure - those wanting to shed their civilized trappings and recharge their spirits in a natural world both inspiring and demanding. With absolutely no roads, trails or campgrounds dictating where to go or when to stop, you have the uncommon experience of just the pure, wild land itself, the weather, and your desires guiding and directing you in your travels.
