Pristine lakes, granite peaks, tumbling freestone streams, and blue sky dominate the landscape on this dramatic backpacking trip in the Yosemite backcountry. For those with just a few days to experience backpacking in the High Sierra, we believe our High Tour to be the ideal trip.
After a night at The Pines Resort, we head to the high country and make camp in the Jackass Lakes Basin for three days. Here, we spend the days fishing, swimming and hiking in this incredible alpine environment. There is an opportunity for an ascent of nearby Madera Peak 10,509 ft. as well. This trip is for those with little or some backpacking experience who want to enjoy the beauty and majesty of the Yosemite high country.
Stay in accommodations the first night, where you'll meet your guide, have a trip orientation, and pack your gear, which we provide. This night is spent in chalet lodging on beautiful Bass Lake. Facilities include lakeside pool and hot tub, as well as tennis courts, market, and restaurants. Chalets contain two queen beds and a fold out queen and are shared among trip participants (3-4 per chalet) unless otherwise arranged. On day two, hike four miles of scenic trail to your night's camp. The next day, we'll hike past beautiful lakes as we make our way to the summit of a 10,000' + peak, where views stretch the length of the Sierra. On day four, break camp and hike back to the trailhead, arriving mid-day.
