Gros Ventre Wilderness

The temperature drops with increased elevation. Spring comes later and fall earlier in the high mountains, leaving only a few weeks of summer when trails are snow-free. The lower elevations are usually free of snow by the end of June, but no month is free of snow squalls, summer or winter. Temperatures can exceed 80 degrees in the summer, and often drop below freezing at night. Be prepared for rain, hail, snow, and sunshine, all in one day.
