Hawaii Volcanoes National Park The park encompasses several distinct climate zones, so come prepared for a wide range of weather conditions. The weather at Kilauea's 4,000 summit can be rainy and chilly at any time of year. The coastal plain at the end of Chain of Craters Rd. is often hot, dry, and windy. Bring raingear, light sweaters and windbreakers, sturdy shoes, hats, water bottles, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
