Warrior's Path State Park

Named for its proximity to the ancient war and trading path used by the Cherokee, 950-acre Warrior's Path State Park is still a pathway for outdoor enthusiasts. Located on the shores of the Patrick Henry Reservoir on the Holston River, the park provides year-round lake fishing, pleasure boating, and water skiing. The park is home to the Warrior's Path Golf Course, an 18-hole shoreline course amid the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. A system of mountain bike trails is currently under construction; four miles of scenic trail are complete and available for public use. The park stables provide a good selection of riding horses and ponies for exploring the wooded paths.

Recommended Activities

  • Ride the winding equestrian trail through scenic woodlands.
  • Hike the miles of trails through the rich diversity of East Tennessee forests, fields and wetlands.
  • Fish the lake for crappie, bream, bass, trout and catfish.
  • Ski on the Patrick Henry Reservoir.
