Located in the Uwharrie Mountains along the Pee Dee River and Lake Tillery, Morrow Mountain features 16 miles of mountain trails to wander on foot or horseback. History buffs will enjoy the homesite of Dr. Francis Kron, which is located at the foot of Fall Mountain. Dr. Kron is recognized as the first medical doctor to settle and practice medicine in the southern piedmont of North Carolina. Kron's home, doctor's office, infirmary, and greenhouse were reconstructed in 1960 and appear today, much as they did in 1870.
