James River State Park, opened to the public June 20, 1999, is one of the state's newest parks. Its 1,442 acres offer access to 20 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, and 3 fishing ponds. James River's sweeping curves are bordered by scenic farmland, rolling hills and forests.
