Grafton Lakes State Park ![]() Grafton Lakes State Park, on the forested mountain ridge between the Taconic andHudson Valleys, includes five ponds. Long Pond has a large, sandy beach, which is a popular summer attraction. Fishermen can go after rainbow and brown trout in Long Pond; brook trout in Shaver Pond; pickerel and perch in Mall Pond, and bass and walleye in Martin-Durham Reservoir. All ponds have launch facilities for canoes, sailboats and rowboats. Visitors also picnic, walk the nature trails, and hike, bike or ride horses along the 10 miles of park trails. In winter, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiers and snowmobilers, and visitors may also showshoe or ice skate.
