Chugach State Park ![]() Chugach State Park is an accessible wilderness in the backyard of Anchorage. Seven mile long Eklutna Lake is surrounded by glacier carved peaks. Wildlife viewing and mountain scenery are year-round pleasures, and campers can choose developed campgrounds or secluded backcountry valleys. The 495,000-acre park is popular with hikers, climbers, and cross-country skiers. The Eagle River Nature Center and the Potter Section House Historical Site offer interpretive displays and programs.
