Ammonoosuc
Ammonoosuc is an Indian word roughly translated as a "stony place for fishing." It is an area of beautiful ravines, high-elevation lakes, and many brooks for fishing.

With an early start you can reach the Lake-of-the-Clouds hut, then follow the Crawford Path above timberline to the summit of Mount Washington.



Permit Information
No permit needed.

Directions
From Twin Mountain, go 3 miles east on Route 302 to Base Station Road, then 5 miles on Base Station Road to the trailhead parking lot. Or, from Crawford Depot on Route 302, take Mt. Clinton Road for 3 miles to Base Station Road, then turn right.

Information Center
The Forest Service office is located on 660 Trudeau Road in Bethlehem, NH.
