Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge


Weir Hill
Weir Hill - a 12,000 year-old glacial deposit - was for many years home of Native Americans who trapped fish in the river by constructing fish weirs; hence the name "Weir Hill." Today visitors to this area may hike more than a mile of upland trails that take them through woodlands and fields and to the river, brook, pond and marshes that surround the hill.



Permit Information
No camping (frontcountry or backcountry) allowed.

Directions
From Wayland, take Rt. 27 north 1.7 miles. Turn right onto Water Row Rd. Go 1.2 miles to its end. Turn right onto Lincoln Rd. In 0.5 miles, turn left onto Weir Hill Rd.

Information Center
Refuge Headquarters, located at adjacent to the Sudbury River at the base of Weir Hill, includes an office, visitor center and educational facilities.
