Sula Ranger District
Formerly known as East Fork District, the Sula Ranger District lies south of Darby in the southwest section of the Bitterroot Forest. The historic McCart Fire Lookout was built in 1939 at an elevation of 7,115 feet. It is located in an isolated setting with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Pintler Range to the south and east, the Sapphire Range to the north, and the Bitterroot Range to the west and northwest. The lookout has been restored and is available for rental. There are 7 campgrounds within the district and plenty of hiking trails for your enjoyment.
