Manchester Ranger District
The Manchester Ranger District extends from the Vermont-Massachusetts border to State Highway 140 in the Town of Wallingford. This region is home to 4 wildernesses: George D. Aiken, Lye Brook, Big Branch, and Peru Peak. Big Branch and Peru Peak are contained within White Rocks National Recreation Area, a popular destination for hiking, fishing and picnicking. Berry-picking, birding, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling are some of the other activities available here. There is an extensive winter trail network for cross-country skiers and snowmobilers.



Permit Information
No backcountry permit needed. Vermont fishing permit required for fishing.

Directions
Located in the southwest corner of Vermont, take Hwy. 7 south from Rutland.

Information Center
Manchester Ranger Station is located on Hwy. 7 in Manchester Center.
