South Rim
The best views of the canyons and ruins are provided along the South Rim Drive, which is a 36-mile round-trip with 8 overlooks. There are 4 overlooks from which to view Canyon del Muerto and 4 for viewing Canyon de Chelly. Allow 2 hours for the drive and be sure to stretch your legs at each viewpoint. Breathe deeply and inhale the gentle Colorado air as it crosses the plateaus, dips into the canyons, and rises up at your feet.

Directions
From Chinle, drive east on Hwy. 7 to the junction of North Rim and South Rim Drives. South Rim Drive is the right-hand fork.

Information Center
The visitor center is located at the junction of North Rim and South Rim Drive. It is 3 miles (4.8 km) from Route 191 in Chinle.
