Chugach National Forest Cordova/Copper River Delta Woven from 6 glacial river systems, the delta makes a 60-mile arc from Point Whitshed to Cape Suckling in Southcentral Alaska. This place is a mecca for anglers, hunters, wildlife watchers, and those who cherish wilderness. Marshes, sloughs, and stands of spruce and cottonwood hide moose, bears, beavers, and other furbearers. Mountain goats cling confidently to near-vertical hoof-holds in the Chugach Mountains to the north. But the Copper River Delta is best known for its birds. Swans, geese, ducks, shorebirds, and bald eagles are temporary or permanent inhabitants. The Delta is wet! About 160 inches of precipitation falls annually. This, combined with the massive glacial runoff from the north, is the life blood of the delta. Permit Information Directions Information Center Activities
