Brooks Camp
During the peak of the world's largest sockeye salmon run in July, and during return of the "spawned out" salmon in September, forty to sixty bears congregate in Brooks Camp along the Brooks River and along the Naknek Lake and Brooks Lake shorelines. A favored destination for visitors to the Park, Brooks Camp can only be reached via small float plane or boat.
Permit Information
Backcountry permits are not required; however, the Park Service recommends filing a Backcountry Planner, which provides necessary visitor use information and is helpful in case of emergencies.
