Voyageurs is located 5 hours from Minneapolis-St. Paul, 3 hours from Duluth, and 4 hours from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Roads approach the park from four points along US 53 between Duluth and International Falls. Air travelers can use the International Falls or Hibbing airports.

The Kabetogama Peninsula, the islands, and nearly all areas of the park's shoreline are accessed by watercraft. Boats may be launched from the visitor centers and the Kabetogama State Forest Campgrounds.

Water taxi service is available in Ash River, Crane Lake, International Falls, and Lake Kabetogama.
