Mount Rainier National Park is located in west-central Washington within an easy drive of Seattle, Tacoma, Yakima and Portland. The Nisqually entrance (SW corner) is open year-round. Travelers coming from east of the Cascades may enter the park directly during the summer, but Chinook and Cayuse Passes on SR 410 are closed in the winter. Travelers coming from the east may access the park via I-90 and US 12 in the winter. Limited public transportation is available.
