No permit needed. Self-registration is optional and can be done at each trailhead.

Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: The Begich, Boggs Visitor Center is located at Portage Glacier in the Glacier Ranger District. However, the District Ranger Stations also offer a variety of information: there is a station in the Glacier Ranger District in Girdwood, one in the Seward Ranger District in Seward, and one in the Cordova Ranger District in Cordova.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: Restaurants and stores are located in cities within the forest: Cordova, Seward, Moose Pass, Cooper Landing, Hope, Whittier, and Girdwood.
