Programs: Many guided walks and other activities are available at Dartmoor.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: Food and supplies are available in the many towns found throughout Dartmoor National Park.

Visitor Impact
The Ministry of Defence operates live firing ranges on the north end of the moor. There is no public access whilst they are in use, as signified by red flags by day and red lights by night.

The free-ranging sheep, cattle, and ponies of Dartmoor are not to be fed nor disturbed. Feeding them encourages behaviour that can lead to their deaths, including road kill and assaultive behavior on those feeding them, and is strictly prohibited.

Additional Information
The National Parks of England and Wales, unlike National Parks of other countries such as the USA, are not publicly owned by the state or federal governments. The lands within their designated borders receive special recognition and attention, in acknowledgment of their importance to the national heritage, but generally encompass villages and towns and remain largely privately owned.
