Visitor Impact
Heavy visitor use over the course of decades has significantly denuded the mountainsides of vital woodland vegetation, stripped for heating and cooking fuel. Collection and use of firewood is strictly prohibited. Kerosene is available for purchase from depots at Syangboche, Dole, and Pheriche. Beer bottles are strictly prohibited. Mountain bicycles and motor bikes are prohibited.

Additional Information
This is an extremely remote region, accessible only by airplane or a trek of many days. Detailed advanced planning is vital.

Be alert to the signs of High Altitude Sickness, with symptoms including headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, and breathlessness. If symptoms occur, it is vital to cease ascending, and if symptoms persist, the only cure is to descend immediately. Medical advice is available at Kunde Hospital and Pheriche Aid Post.
