Highest in June, July, August and October; lowest in January.

Permits
Rock climbing is allowed on the cliff face of Maryland Heights by permit only. Permits may be obtained at the Ranger Station or Information Center in the Lower Town. Reservations for school groups should be made 3 weeks in advance. At least one month's notice and application for Special Use Permits is required. Filming permits are arranged on an individual basis. For additional information concerning reservations, special use or filming permits, call (304) 535-6223.

Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: The Harpers Ferry Visitor Center is located on Cavalier Heights about one mile west of the Shenandoah River bridge just off U.S. Route 340. There is also an Information Center in the Lower Town Historic District.

Programs: Ranger-guided tours are offered daily from Memorial Day - Labor Day and include Harpers Ferry: A Place in History, C&O Canal Walk, Harpers Ferry Marsh Walk, Voices from Harpers Ferry, and The Guns of Harpers Ferry. Call 304-535-6298 for more information.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: There are no food or supplies within the park, but both are available within walking distance.

Concessions: The Park Bookshop, operated by the Harpers Ferry Historical Association, is located in the Information Center in the Lower Town District. Over 2,000 titles are available with special emphasis on John Brown, the Civil War, African-American History, Industry & Transportation, the Environment, and official NPS handbooks and videos. Visitor Impact
Protection of the irreplaceable ruins of Civil War battlements, early American industrial operations, and other historic sites is the responsibility of us all. Please leave them undisturbed. Pets are allowed in natural areas of the park, if leashed or physically restrained at all times.
