Permits
Backpack campsites require a permit, which can be purchased at the visitor center for $3. Permits are limited and available only in person on the day of use, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: The White Sands Visitor Center includes a museum, information desk, bookstore, gift shop and restrooms.

Programs: Lake Lucero Tours: $3.00 per person; $1.50 per person for 16 and under. Photography Workshops: One-day workshop: $15.00; Two-day workshop: $20.00. Moonlight Bicycle Tours: $5.00 per person; $2.50 per person for 16 and under.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food and Supplies: Refreshments and snacks can be purchased at the visitor center gift shop.

Visitor Impact
WARNING: The air space above the park is periodically used by military aircraft and for missile testing. Debris from testing occasionally falls into the park. DO NOT TOUCH ANY METALLIC OBJECTS. These can be dangerous. Report any debris to a park ranger.
