Permits
No permit needed for camping or hiking. Campfire permits are required outside of a designated campsite from May 1 through October and may be obtained free of charge from your nearest Forest Service, California Department of Forestry or Bureau of Land Management office.
Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: There is no Visitor Center, but there are many Forest Service Offices in each of the 7 Districts of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest which provide free information.
Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: There are restaurants and grocery stores located within the National Forest in the communities of Weaverville, Lewiston, Trinity Creek, Shasta Lake, and Coffee Creek.
Concessions: There are many concessionaires within the National Forest ranging from lodging accomodations to boat rentals to veterinarians. Please call the Forest Headquarters for more information.
Visitor Impact
Beware of poison oak, bears, rattlesnakes, and giardia.
