Free permits are required for overnight use. You may self-register at trailheads on the eastern side. Reservations are required on the western side.

Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: Ranger stations can be found in the Calaveras Ranger District in Stanislaus National Forest, and in the Carson Ranger District in Toiyabe National Forest.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: No food or supplies are available in the wilderness. Food and supplies are available in towns within the Stanislaus National Forest.
