Permits
Permit requirements vary by region; in several, a free backcountry permit is required for overnight camping in backcountry areas: Escalante, Orange Cliffs. Contact the park for specifics regarding acquiring the permits; they vary by region.
Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: Glen Canyon NRA has three visitor centers: the Carl Hayden Visitor Center, in Page, AZ (open all year); the Bullfrog Visitor Center, in Bullfrog, UT (open intermittently in March, open daily April - October, closed November -February); Navajo Bridge Interpretive Center, near Lees Ferry (open daily mid-April - October, open weekends only in early April & November.)
Programs: Regularly scheduled ranger programs are available seasonally. Educational programs are available by appointment throughout the school year by calling (520) 608-6404.
Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: Groceries and supplies are available at all 5 marinas, though selection is limited. Numerous stores are available in Page.
Concessions: Glen Canyon Natural History Association operates bookstores at the Carl Hayden and Bullfrog Visitor Centers and at the Navajo Bridge Interpretive Center near Lees Ferry. The primary concessionaire for Glen Canyon NRA/Lake Powell is ARAMARK providing food, lodging, boat rental, boat tours, etc. at all 5 marina sites (Wahweap and Bullfrog are the only marinas with full services) except Lees Ferry, in the Orange Cliffs, or in Escalante.
Visitor Impact
Anyone camping within one-quarter mile of Lake Powell is required to carry and use a portable toilet unless their boats or campers are self-contained or toilets are available. Waste must be disposed of only at designated boat pumpouts and dump stations.
