Permits
Free backcountry camping permits are required for all ovenight hikes. May be obtained at the visitor center, along with maps, backcountry regulations, camping restrictions, and water availability. Phone (505) 672-3861 for further information.
Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: The visitor center in Frijoles Canyon offers exhibits on prehistoric and historic Pueblo cultures, trail guides, videos, and a bookstore in addition to providing comprehensive information to park visitors. Phone (505) 672-3861.
Programs: There are regularly-scheduled guided walks, evening programs, and interpretive talks during summer months. Self-guided interpretive trails are open year-round. There are craft-making demonstrations by local American Indians on weekends throughout the summer months.
Food Supplies and Concessions
Food supplies: There is a concessionaire-operated snack bar in Frijoles Canyon, near the visitor center. There are no other food or supplies within the park.
Concessions: There is a concessionaire-operated gift shop in Frijoles Canyon, and a Southwest Parks and Monuments Association bookstore in the visitor center.
Visitor Impact
Pets must be leashed at all times and are not allowed on ANY of Bandelier's trails.
Additional Information
There is limited parking for visitors, and on busy days there can be an hour wait for parking space.
