Visitor Impact Be aware -- you may run into moose and bears even in the populated areas around the park entrance. As you hike, be alert and make a lot of noise so that you do not surprise these animals. If you encounter a grizzly, DO NOT RUN! Identify yourself to the bear by waving your arms over your head and speaking in a low, calm voice. If you encounter a moose, do not approach it. RUN if a moose charges you. Additional Information Beyond Mile 14 of the park road youll need to be on a bus, a bicycle, or on foot. Shuttle buses are the prime means of wildlife and scenic viewing in Denali, and visitors wishing to dayhike, camp, backpack, or picnic in the park should plan on using them. Bring an assortment of snacks, lunch, and beverages that will fit underneath your seat or in the overhead rack. Riding a bus often enhances your chances of spotting wildlife, as you are sitting higher than if you were in a car and there are many pairs of eyes watching.
