Permits
A valid Virginia fishing license is required in addition to a trout license or permit depending on the season. Contact the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries for licenses and/or additional information at (804) 367-1000.
Visitors Center and Programs
Programs: The following interpretive programs run Memorial Day through Labor Day: nature hikes, paddleboat tours, midnight canoe tours, Kid Kapers, Junior Rangers, evening amphitheater programs, living history, beaver talks, night hikes, environmental education, survival training. Interpretive Programs before Memorial Day and after Labor Day are limited.
Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: Douthat Camp Store stocks most convenience items and fishing necessities. The gift shop offers gifts, crafts and clothing. You may dine at the Douthat Lakeside Restaurant.
Concessions: The beach area, complete with bathhouse, snack bar and boat rentals, is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Rowboats, paddleboats, canoes, funyaks and water bikes are available for rent throughout the summer. Year-round boat storage is also available from the park for a fee.

No gas powered equipment is allowed on the lake. Picnic shelters must be reserved by calling the Reservation Center at 1-800-933-PARK.
