Truly, the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests are a sportsperson's paradise. Nowhere else in the mid-Atlantic region can you find a nearly two million-acre chunk of land open to so many public outdoor recreational pursuits. The National Forests are open to hunting, fishing, and trapping during seasons established by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries or the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. All County and Federal game regulations also apply. All hunters, anglers and trappers are strongly urged to familiarize themselves with the applicable regulations before leaving home.
