Florida Manatee
The endangered Florida manatee is a large gentle sea mammal, with a seal-shaped body and a flat round tail, that lives on the aquatic vegetation of these subtropical Florida waters. It is often easily viewable from a special Manatee Observation Area.
Mosquito Lagoon
Sheltered estuary rich in fish, oysters, clams, shrimp, waterfowl, alligators, otters, and wading birds such as snowy egrets, white ibises, and great blue herons.
Sea Turtles
Endangered sea turtles nest along the entire seashore.
Turtle Mound Shell Midden
Shell midden left by Timucuan Indians, with a panoramic view of the ocean and Mosquito Lagoon.
