Devils Tower National Monument
Black-tailed Prairie Dogs These highly social animals are not really dogs but rodents. They are small, short-tailed animals with eyes and ears set far back on their heads. With muscular legs and long-nailed toes, they are well equipped for a burrowing lifestyle. Devils Tower This nearly vertical monolith rises 1,267 feet above the meandering Belle Fourche River, providing excellent climbing for outdoor enthusiasts. This rocky sentinel was made famous by Steven Spielberg's movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
