Mark Twain National Forest


Eleven Point River
This river flows through the picturesque Ozark country of southern Missouri. Its course is cut in the shadows of steep bluffs, through sloping, forested valleys and low-lying pastures.

Markham Spring
Markham Spring has attracted a number of famous visitors including Buffalo Bill Cody and a Grand Duke of Russia. The wheelhouse here was built in the 1930s to provide electricity.

North Fork River
The North Fork River is delineated by high ridges and deep, narrow, almost canyon-like valleys. The river is mostly spring-fed with 9 large springs within the river basin.

Ozark Trail
The Mark Twain National Forest is home to 300 completed miles of the 500-mile Ozark Trail. The trail begins near St. Louis, MO and winds over federal, state, and private lands to the Arkansas border.

Silver Mines
Silver Mines, located on the St. Francis River, was once bustling with mining activity; now it is a popular recreation area.

Whites Creek Cave
Whites Creek Cave can be accessed from the Eleven Point Scenic River or Whites Creek Trail. It is open May 1-Sept.15
